The Wights of Midlock, Crawford, Biggar, sold their best for £18,000 to next door neighbour father and daughter duo, Jim and Jen Craig of Normangill, Crawford. Their purchase is son of a £24,000 Connachan and bred from a £6000 Nunnerie sired-dam.

The No 1 in the same pen achieved £7500 when the hammer fell to Joe Dickson, Dunlogan, Dripers. He got for his money a shearling backed by home-bred genetics being sired by the Buck which again goes back to a £24,000 Connachan, and out of a ewe by a son of a £100,000 Elmscleugh.

Another from the same home made £6500. He is by the £200,000 Dalchirla and bred from a £26,000 Dyke sired-ewe. He now travels to Newton Stewart with David Ferguson for his Drannandow and Markdhu flocks based at Newton Stewart and New Luce, respectively.

Stuart McDougall, Kelty, was another in the money, achieving a personal best of £7500 with his first shearling. Backed by home-bred genetics, he is by a £3500 ram that goes back to a £3500 Kirkstead, while the dam is a daughter of a £1800 Millhouse tup. Final bidder here was Alan McClymont buying for his Dryhope flock, Yarrow.

After their successful day selling, Midlock, went to £7000 for an Arnicle shearling from Iain and David McArthur, Glenbarr, Tarbert. Bred from a ewe by a home-bred son of a £16,000 Merkland, he is sired by the 9000gns Veronica Fullerton ram.

Ian Hunter, Dalchirla, Muthill, Crieff, also had a good day with sales at £7000, £6500 and £6000.

His dearest was a son of his £200,000 Dalchirla lamb sold in 2020, of which a share was retained, whilst the dam goes back to a £22,000 Lurg tup. He sold in a three-way split to DJ and A O’Mullan, Glenbuck and K O’Mullan, Gortahar and H Crawford, Glenhead, Glenview.
