LANARK RAM SALE - LAMB SALE REPORT Averages: 209 ram lambs out of 271 forward, £3102.97 (+£1013.06 for 25 less sold) Blackie boys went to town for the second days trading at Lanark, ensuring a rip-roaring trade from start to finish complete with a cracking £60,000 sale leader for Soapy the pen leader from Alastair MacArthur, Nunnerie, Elvanfoot. Producing the highest priced lamb here for the second time in three years and more importantly, the lead average for the third time in five years, Alastair and part-time shepherd, Craig Thornborrow, brought out four lambs of which three sold at five-figure prices ensuring a phenomenal average of £23,450 for four. Tops was Soapy, a son of a £20,000 Midlock bought at Lanark as a lamb in 2007 out of a ewe by a £49,000 Glenrath. Buying back some of their own bloodlines, this cracker sold in a three-way-split to Allan Wight and son Allan, Midlock, Crawford; John Campbell and Sons, Glenrath, Peebles, and Willie Dunlop and sons, Quintin and William, Elmscleugh, Dunbar.
