NEWTON STEWART RAM SALE - Report and Photos courtesy of The Scottish Farmer Blackface rams met a sound, steady trade at Craig Wilsons annual sale at Newton Stewart, last week, where averages again improved significantly on the year and for more sold. As always, shearlings met a level demand throughout, with the real sparks flying late on in the day for the ram lambs, and none more so than for the best from Sanny Blackwood, Greenside, Muirkirk, which came under the hammer for a whopping £26,000. And, while the lamb sale proved and out and out flyer from the start, the shearling trade also hit the headlines producing a lead price of £10,000 the second highest price of the day and a personal best for Gerrard McGinn, who has been farming at Chirmorrie since 2000.
