Blackface Draft Ewes & Gimmers 29th September 2009
At their annual sale of Blackface Draft Ewes and Gimmers, Lawrie and Symington had forward 5444 head with Buyers in attendance from all over the UK and Northern Ireland, a very strong trade was achieved. The 4164 Blackface Draft Ewes averaged £72.05 a rise of £34.42 on the year. A record price of £440 per head was paid for a pen of 25 from J. Wight & Sons, Midlock, Crawford, purchased by E. McMillan, Lurg, Fintry. This was followed at £350 for a pen of 25 consigned by W. Ramsey Milnmark, Dalry, purchased by MG McKay, Cushendun, Northern Ireland. In the Gimmer section the Sale was topped at £210 for a pen of 15 from M Mcpherson, Connachen, Crieff, purchased by S Fagan, Northern Ireland. This was followed at £200 by a pen from CC McArthur & Company, Nunnerie, Elvanfoot purchased by J Mcpherson Balliemenach, Dalmally.
