WALLETS MARTS CASTLE DOUGLAS LIMITED WEDNESDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER 2009. Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited continued their breeding sheep sales on Wednesday, when they held their annual sale of draft BF Ewes and Gimmers. Prices in general were well ahead of sellers expectations with many lots doubling in value from last year. Topping the sale and setting a new centre record fro BF Females at Castle Douglas was a gimmer from Craignell,which made £480 to Emmet Coyle, Northern Ireland. This was closely followed at £175 for a pen of five from the same home. Fingland and Netherwood were next tops at £150. Gimmers averaged 95.36 for 1391, a rise of £25.09 on last year. ![]() 3148 BF Ewes were shown in good bloom selling to a top price of £90 for a pen of young ewes from David Porter, Barcaple Farm House. The five-year old ewes topped at £84 for a pen from J & A Finlay, Blackcraig Farm, Corsock. The ewe average lifted by £27.54 to level at £58.27. ![]() Blackface Gimmers ![]() |
