Castle Douglas Ewe Lamb Sale Report
7th September 2009

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited continued their very successful run of breeding sheep sales on Monday when they staged their annual sale of Blackface Ewe Lambs. Despite the disastrous weather experienced over the last two months lambs in general were shown in good bloom and were very level throughout for both size and quality.

Topping the sale at £94 was a top quality pen from regular consignors Messrs HA Blackwood, Auldhouseburn selling to John Hamilton, Aitkengall, Innerwick, Dunbar. This was closely followed at £88 from Greenside, Gass Farm and Craig, Straiton. Overall average was a highly credible £59.31 for 3325 compared to £38.61 for 3430 last year.

Also forward were 101 wedder lambs, which topped at £37.80 off Knockgray.
